Writer's Block: Personal Holidays

These days, there's a holiday for everything from punctuation to pie. If you could create your own holiday, what would it be and how would you celebrate?

Music day! I think we should have a day where you celebrate music of all genres. It means a lot to a lot of people, obviously, and I think that a lot of people would love such a day. That, or a Goo Goo Dolls day, heh xD

Anyway, random meme I found at [info]juliedoc through a comm.

1. Current favorite word?: Equinox & zest.

2. This word is just fun to say: Albuquerque, colonel.

3. Favorite prefix (can be anything you like to stick on the front of words, not necessarily a real prefix): Ummm, I think über-. It's just funny. And arse-, too.

4. Favorite suffix (can be anything you like to stick at the end of words, not necessarily a real suffix): Gah, this is hard. It's not something I usually think a lot about, y'know.

5. Favorite swearword? Right now it's arseballs. Not the same as what I say a lot, though, which is fuck (or the Norwegianized version, "føkk")

6. Text talk word that I'm ashamed to admit I use in real life? I say oh em gee sometimes, but mostly in a sort of ironic way. And woot sometimes, too, and a lot of macro speaking such as "I can has plz?".

7. When I'm mildly frustrated, I say: "Arrrgghh!"

8. If I never had to hear this word again, I'd be very happy: Neger. It's basically the Norwegian word of nigger, and I hate it so much. It makes me so mad when people I know use it.

9. This word isn't as bad as the word in #8, but it gets on my nerve all the same: I don't really know. Hm, any word with a foul meaning of any sort? OH YES EMO. I've started to hate when people say "oh that's so emo!".

10. Term I'm proud of to have invented as my own: Um. I know I have invented some, but not a lot of them are in use, and I can't remember any of them right now.

11. Word that snuck into my vocabulary and I don't understand why: "Homedawg". Elias, the American exchange student, has been teaching me ebonics, and I've started saying it. Also, any swearword more severe than shit. I do have sort of a foul mouth.

12. Word or phrase I use that annoys my friends but that I use anyway: "OMG!" is always something that makes people go "NOOO!". That, or a Russian thing.

13. This word will always make me laugh: "Spanjakker". It's a really old Norwegian for Spanish people, heard it for the first time today. Goood, so funny xD

14. I use this word to describe an attractive member of whatever sex I prefer: "Hot"? Any common word for whatever you say about an attractive person. Haha, I dunno. If I'm explaining to friends, I sometimes go "Uhuhuuhu!", like a pleasant shiver (02:48 if you're confused about what I mean).

15. "Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!" Dumbledore said this in the first Harry Potter when he said, "I have a few words for the students/assembly." If you could yell out four completely random words just for grins and giggles, what would you yell? "Sarcophagus! Ruffians! Fornication! Extraterrestial!"

*chuckles at 'arseballs'* That almost sounds like something from Weebl & Bob. Bum clouds!

Curiously enough, "Neger" is the same word in German. It wasn't originally considered offensive - more like the English "negro" than "nigger", but of course, it is nowadays, and it only really persists in words like Negerkuß (which is considered offensive by some, too, but not everyone - many people still use it).

According to Andrea in the comment under, neger does actually mean negro. I don't agree, I think it's come to a point where it has changed its meaning.

*noddles* I think "negro" in English is an offensive term these days, too - maybe not quite as bad as "nigger", but certainly not something one should use.

Ekstremt.
