The French term "l'esprit de l'escalier," which translates literally as "the wit of the staircase," refers to those perfect, clever comebacks that you only think of after the fact. What's the best came-too-late comeback you've ever had?

Oh, that happens all the time. Annoying, it is.

In 9th grade, I was flamboyantly somewhat of a emo, as some of you may know, and I got a lot of shit for it at school. There was especially this one dude who was constantly after me. One day, as I was walking around in the school library, he came up to me and cited some Panic at the Disco lyrics. I was flummoxed, and just looked at him stupidly. I walked away, then turned around five seconds later, went up to him and asked him if he'd just cited PATD lyrics? He told me, yes, don't you like that shit? I went "Uhhhh, yes, I do." and walked away again. It struck me later that I should've asked him why the hell he knew the lyrics.

One time I did have a great comeback-situation, though. I was looking for a friend of mine, and had to walk into her classroom to look for her. There's this really small asshole who was in her class, and he had also been pretty bad towards me. As I walked in he shouted "Emo!" and "Get out!" and people started to snicker, but it wasn't long before they started roaring with laughter when I shouted "Small penis!" back. It wasn't even particularly clever, but there was an immense satisfaction in shutting him up and seeing him blush. Sore spot, obviously.

Also, did you miss my St.Petersburg-post? (also including pictures from that trip to Moscow forever ago). Funny pictures of stuff, like a murder-cat and me with Alexander Rybak, winner of Eurovision 2009. Just sayin'.
